Week 10: The Big Reveal

Weeks 5 through 9 were spent on our personal projects.

after 4 weeks of full-time pairing, we are inseparable and finishing each others' sentences.

I paired with Louise and we shared our passion for dogs and technology by building a website for dogwalkers. Our site is called “DogLog” and users can log their dogwalks, dogs, and ‘logs’. Obviously, we love crappy puns.

The biggest challenge we faced was learning how to develop a mobile app for the Android platform. Downloading and installing environments was tough. Deploying to Heroku also took some fiddling with. We built our app using Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, and PhoneGap.

It has been an incredible journey working with a brainiac. Louise’s background as a mechanical engineer has her completely at ease with debugging, hacking, and problem solving. My background in management and psychology has me focused on usability, organization and being methodically detail-oriented. We’ve learned from each other and taught each other to work smarter and harder.
